Now that school has started, it’s crucial for families to sign up for a NYC Schools Account if they haven’t already, which enables schools to alert you to confirmed COVID-19 cases, your child’s grades, test scores, schedules and transportation information.

One Medical Testing Sites

One Medical, a national digital health and primary care provider, is offering free COVID-19 testing and virtual care services for essential workers and vulnerable populations. This includes:

  • Healthcare professionals, including staff working at adult care facilities or with people with disabilities
  • Workers in other vital industries, such as government, first responders, food, and transportation
  • Frontline 1199SEIU members
  • NYC residents who are 65 and older

They offer five testing sites open from 9 AM to 6 PM by appointment only.

Antibody Testing

Antibody testing is a way of determining if a person has been infected by the coronavirus even if they hadn’t shown symptoms.

Doctors, nurses, and other employees at New York City hospitals that have handled high volumes of coronavirus patients will be the first tested in the antibody program.

Antibody testing is not open to the general public yet.

New York State Unemployment benefits

If you have lost your job and you live in New York state, you can claim unemployment insurance benefits in New York state.

The State is waiving the 7-day waiting period for unemployment insurance benefits for people who are out of work due to coronavirus closures or quarantines.

Public Assistance

Eligible families may receive up to 60 months of federally funded cash assistance under the Temporary Aid to Needy Families Program aka TANF.

Single individuals without children and families who have already received cash assistance for 60 months may receive benefits under the New York State Safety Net Program.

Emergency Cash Assistance

The "One Shot Deal" emergency assistance program helps people who can't meet an expense due to an unexpected situation or event. To find out go to portal.311.nyc.gov and type one shot deal in the search bar. 

If you already received Cash Assistance, you can apply for a Special Grant at portal.311.nyc.gov and type access HRA in the search bar. 

Funeral Financial Assistance

You may be eligible for financial assistance to meet funeral expenses for a family member who passed away. To find out go to portal.311.nyc.gov and type funeral financial assistance in the search bar. 

Financial Counseling

NYC Financial Empowerment Centers now provide free one-on-one professional, financial counseling over the phone. Counselors can provide financial guidance during COVID-19. To get assistance go to portal.311.nyc.gov and type in financial counseling in the search bar.
