Emergency Communications

WHCR 90.3 FM radio , the Voice of Harlem, is your source for trusted and reliable information about what is going on in the Harlem community.  The WHCR Emergency Broadcast Team, WEBT, is the emergency communications arm of WHCR.


  • During emergencies WEBT provides emergency preparedness, mitigation and recovery information and services to the Harlem community. This includes continuous emergency FM and online broadcasting  utilizing community-based emergency communications networks and operators that collect and disseminate critical information in real-time.


  • During normal times, WEBT’s mission is to contribute to the safety, well-being and resilience of the area footprint of Harlem's  WHCR-90.3 FM by providing real-time local news, updates, alerts, and public safety information.


Emergency Preparedness

Every year since 2012, following Superstorm Sandy, the WHCR Emergency Broadcast Team, in partnership with Digital Divide Partners, WHCR 90.3 FM radio, CERT and others have hosted HARLEM EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DAY as an event to educate and inform the Harlem community about emergency preparedness.
